Half way through the season, and everyone is doing an excellent job. I have been to games for all three teams, and I have to say that everyone is doing a fantastic job in representing your teams and your town. You all have a lot to be proud of. Coaches, too. You are doing a fantastic job making the game fun, teaching the basics. Teamwork and sportsmanship are lessons that will carry on, even off the baseball field. WAY TO GO EVERYONE! Have a safe and exciting second half of the season.
Beth Robb

Postings By Coach Bethel

May 12th Game 5

Joe Schaeffer's Holloway team visited Bethesda park for the first time this season, the young team proved to have a lot of heart and good coaching, Bethesda's defense was kept on their toes. Bethesda had their bats out with Bradley Huntsman and Malachi Higgins hitting back to back home runs, and Nate Kinney, Josh Bolyard, Riley Bethel, Kaleb Coffield, and Trace Roby each hitting triples. The kids from both sides had a lot of fun...that's what it's all about!! Final score was Bethesda 20 Holloway 6. Thanks to Joe, Rob, Heidi and the Holloway kids and parents for such an easy going and fun game. Bethesda will host Scott Kadlic's Morristown team on Monday May 14th.

May 14th Game 6

Scott Kadlic's Morristown crew were the visitors tonight, a talented group both at bat and in the field. Morristown finished their first at bat with one run, leaving two on. Bethesda scored five in the first, second and third with Kaleb Coffield, Nate Kinney and Bradley Huntsman hitting home runs. Morristown scored one in the third and two in the fifth ,saving their big hits until late in the game, scoring seven in the 6th inning. Bethesda was able to bring in four in the fourth, two in the fifth and didn't bat the sixth. Final score Bethesda 20 Morristown 11. Bethesda will visit Lafferty Saturday May 19th at 4:00, while Morristown will host Coach Kildow's team at 6:00.

May 19th Game 7

Bethesda traveled to Lafferty to take on coach Chad McGary's team for the first time this year. The game got underway a little early, starting at around 3:45. Bethesda's first five batters crossed the plate, in the top of the first, with big hits from each of the top five. Lafferty scored one in the bottom of the inning, with two K's and one fly ball hit to Bethesda first baseman Nate Kinney. Bethesda was unable to get the bats going in the second with two unusual strike outs and one fly ball caught by Lafferty's first baseman. Lafferty would be unable to bring in anymore runs for the rest of the game, with most of the action going to Bethesda short stop Brad Huntsman and pitcher Kaleb Coffield. Bethesda's batters were hard to defend with home runs from Riley Bethel, Kaleb Coffield and Trace Roby, Bethesda was able to bring in five in the fourth and fifth and seven in the sixth. Final score Bethesda 21 Lafferty 1. Coach Bethel will take his team on the road again Monday to take on John Merritt's Flushing team.

May 21st Game 8

The Bethesda squad headed to Flushing tonight, to take on John Merritt's group. Bethesda was able to bring twenty-one across the plate tonight, with Bradley Huntsman and Nate Kinney each getting one over the fence. With three rare strike-outs Bethesda was unable to score in the second or third. Flushing was able to bring in three runs in the bottom of the third, but Bethesda's defense was able to prevent any more runs for the remainder of the game, with a couple of nice catches from Huntsman, and a double play by Malachi Higgins and second baseman Josh Bolyard, to end the game. Final Score Bethesda 21 Flushing 3. Bethesda was to host Koscoe's Flushing team on Saturday, but that game will be moved to a later date, do to the holiday weekend. Bethesda South side will host Bethesda North side on Monday the 28th, in what is sure to be a battle till the end as always.

May 28th Game 9
The two Bethesda teams met for their first game. South side was able to bring in five runs in the bottom of the first, fourth and fifth. The young North side team was only able to score five runs on the more experienced South side defense. The South side bats were hard to defend with Bradley Huntsman putting one over and big hits from the top of the line up throughout the game. North side defense though young, proved to have a lot of talent and will no doubt be the ones to watch out for again next year. Final Score South side 18 North Side 5.

May 29th Game 10

Andy Koscoe's Flushing team traveled to Bethesda tonight, for what would end up being the best game of the season so far. The two teams are pretty evenly matched on talent and experience, and this made for a very exciting game. After defeating Flushing 19-9 early in the season Bethesda may have went into this match with a little to much confidence, while Flushing came with a little to much batting practice! The two teams hit a total of 10 home runs, five each in four innings, the most I have ever seen in one pinto game, Koscoe had two first time home runs, with Bethesda's Kaleb Coffield, Brad Hunstman (2), Trace Roby and Nate Kinney each taking home another ball. Bethesda's defense was kept on their toes, with a lot of big hits from Flushing, at the top of each order, the ball was over the fence or at least to the fence. Bethesda was down 18-15 in the bottom of the sixth, with younger batters coming to the plate, however the little ones came through and scored two, with only one out, with the tying run on third and the winning run on first, Kaleb Coffield came to the plate and hit a pop foul which was easily picked off by Flushing's first baseman, the first base runner stepped off the bag and the first baseman step on the bag, handing Bethesda their first loss of the year. Final score Flushing 18 Bethesda 17. Bethesda will travel to Centerville on Saturday June 2nd.

Game 7

GAME SEVEN The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Bethesda ten that day,
The score stood six to two, with but one inning more to play.”

The Bethesda Northsiders invaded Lafferty for the first time this year to meet the Morristown Squad led by first year coach Scott Kadlic. Bethesda led off the first inning with a rare strikeout; and, for the first time this year the top of the order were sat down - one, two, three. Unfortunately for the Bethesda squad it was the forecast for the next 5 innings. Morristown struck early with a two run homer by its number three hitter Josh Knox. After five quick innings of play Morristown was up on the Bethesda squad six to two. Bethesda managed to score three in the top of the six, but untimely base running errors kept them from forcing the home team to bat. The game ended a disappointing 6-5. The loan bright spots on the night were Veteran Zack Lucas’ two hits, Skylar Lucas’ single to put Bethesda within one and Rookies Jordon Dalby and Cal Kildow. Jordon had two base hits on the evening. Cal played a sharp third base, singled and had an RBI. Bethesda must regroup and get ready for Chad McGary’s Lafferty squad. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. at Sewage Plant Park.

“. . . but there is no joy in Mudville --
mighty Casey has struck out.”

game 6

GAME SIX

Back then, my idol was Bugs Bunny, because I saw a cartoon of him playing ball - you know, the one where he plays every position himself with nobody else on the field but him? Now that I think of it, Bugs is still my idol. You have to love a ballplayer like that. ~Nomar Garciaparra

The Bethesda Northsiders picked up their hearts, brushed off their seats and traveled to Holloway to take on an upstart Railroaders team short on experience, but loaded with heart themselves. The Holloway Railroaders have been plagued with a flu bug and were limited to just 10 players available to dress for the game. It was de ja vu all over again as Bethesda’s Keystone Kids led off the first inning with hits. Luke Menges singled, Ty Kildow doubled, Zack Lucas singled and Bethesda was on the board. Bethesda was held to just two runs, however, when a strike out ended the inning after the steady hitting Rookies Ty “Pee Wee Rees” Swallie and Cal “Ripken” Kildow had singled to reset the bases. Holloway managed two base runners on two Bethesda miscues in the bottom of the first, but was held scoreless. After one, it was Bethesda two, Holloway nothing. After the first inning it was all Bethesda as “The Rookies” made this game their day to shine. Todd “Big Stick” Williams led off the second inning with a hit to continue his hitting streak. Megan “The Girl Next Door” Bateman jumped out of her slump with the first of four hits on the evening and Lauren “Sweet Smile” Menges also regained her hitting ways with her first of four hits on the night. The top of the order was up with the bases loaded and that spells runs for the Bethesda squad. Luke Menges drove two home with his second single of the evening. Ty Kildow drove two home with a single and Zack Lucas finished the scoring by driving home Ty with a single. Every inning at the plate appeared to be de ja vu all over again for the Bethesda squad as 13 of 14 hitters had at least two hits on the evening to plate 25 runs. Rookies Emilee “Puckett” Robb and Jordon Dalby each recorded two hits. Rookie Andrew “Jones” Taylor went three for three on the night. The Bethesda squad totaled 37 hits in 47 at bats to erase the memory of Saturday’s heartbreaker at Schuler Park. Holloway’s Railroaders did not give up, however, as they mounted a valiant comeback in the bottom of the sixth. With Bethesda’s bench coach, Mike “Singletary” Menges, calling the shots and keeping the score to himself, new faces were getting experience at the infield positions and Holloway’s bats came to life. It was not enough, however, as the young Railroader’s could only muster four runs in the sixth after getting one in the fifth. The game ended with Bethesda back on track with a 25 – 5 derailing of the young Railroaders. The Bethesda club will travel to Lafferty for a Saturday evening contest versus yet another Rookie Coach. Scott Kadlic’s Morristown team will host the Bethesda squad for their first meeting of the season.

Bethesda: Luke Menges 4-S 2RBI; Ty Kildow S, 2D, 4RBI; B. It was no mere game. It was an extension of my inner feelings and hopes. My favorite players were like my ambassadors to the world. They were doing what I was too small to do. -James T. Farrell

The evening started out with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 70’s as Bethesda’s Northsiders took to the plate in the first inning at Schuler Park versus Andy Koscoe’s veteran Flushing ball club. Bethesda’s veteran infield brought their bats as Luke Menges led off the game with a double. Ty Kildow singled and Zack Lucas reached on an error to load the bases. Bradan Lucas, the scrappy second year utility infielder, stepped up to the plate and drilled a triple to left center to plate three runs. The little Rookie, Ty Swallie, drove Bradan home with a single and it looked as if Bethesda would plate five in the first, but a fielder’s choice, a ground out to the pitcher and a strike out ended the inning and Bethesda went to the bottom of the first with a Four to nothing lead. Flushing started the inning with Jose Watson’s single. The number two hitter, Kovacs, drove a pitch to right center for what looked to be extra bases; but, Bethesda’s right-center fielder, Skylar Lucas, would not allow it. Skylar fielded Kovac’s hit cleanly on one hop and fired to Ty Kildow at second who tagged Jose for the out. The next batter, Austin Koscoe, drove a pitch to the left field fence for what looked to be extra bases. Koscoe did record a triple and an RBI, but the third base coach waived him home. The throw from the outfield sale over the cut-off, but Bethesda’s Luke Menges was “Johnny-on-the-spot” as he charged to the outfield grass to make the relay to home where Bradan Lucas was ready to make the tag. Menges’ throw was a strike from the outfield grass as Bradan made the tag for the out. Bethesda held Flushing’s big bats to just two runs in the first. “Big Mo” was on Bethesda’s side as the momentum carried over to the bats. The girls that made the big plays from the outfield, Skylar Lucas and left fielder Alyssa Morrison, led off the inning. Each lassie hitter had been slumping, but today was another day. The two girls singled. Luke Menges, who just made the throw to thwart the inside the park home run, singled and the bases were loaded again for Bethesda’s Lumber and Lightning Company. Ty Kildow drove a double to left center field to plate two runs. Zack Lucas, Bradan Lucas and Ty Swallie followed with singles and Bethesda went into the bottom of the second with a 9-2 lead. Early in the game it appeared that Bethesda could do no wrong and the only luck for the Flushing team was bad luck. The bottom of the order was up for Flushing and it appeared Bethesda could carry their big lead into the third inning. Flushing managed two base runners, but mixed in two strikeouts before the lead off hitter, Jose Watson, stepped to the plate. Jose swung with everything he had and the ball traveled all of four inches in front of the plate as one run scored. The bad luck turned into a four leaf clover as Flushing’s number two hitter made a mighty swing only to hit a dribbler that stopped rolling about six inches in front of home plate as Flushing plated another run without so much as hitting the ball past the pitcher. An untimely error and a drive to left center gave Flushing the maximum five runs for the inning to pull within two after two. “Big Mo” had shifted, as did the weather. The wind picked up and the air cooled down, as did the bats of the Rookies in the middle of Bethesda’s batting order. The entire defense in the third inning belonged to the shortstops. Flushing’s shortstop, Mr. Kelly, pulled off his impersonation of a Hoover Vacuum, and made swift work of Cal Kildow, Emilee Robb and Megan Bateman, with three putouts. Bethesda made quick work of the bottom of Flushing’s order in the third with a strike out and two putouts by Ty Kildow at short that carried the teams into the Fourth inning with Bethesda holding the lead 9-7. The nine and ten hitters were up for Bethesda in the fourth and all the team needed was to get one on so the hot hitting top of the order could do its thing. The first batter went down on strikes as Big Todd Williams stepped to the plate. Todd was hitless in the first four games of his rookie season, but “Say Hey,” Willie Mays was 0-12 before getting his first hit. Todd took two mighty swings and could only muster a foul tip as the count went to 0 and 2. But on the next pitch, Todd connected for what promises to be the first of many hits to come in his career in Pinto Baseball. Bethesda appeared set to tally some runs when a rare strike out of the speedy lead off hitter quieted the crowd. Hope was alive as with two outs and Todd on first, the two, three and four hitters were waiting to take their swings. Ty Kildow stepped to the plat and drove the first pitch over the shortstops head for what appeared to be extra bases, but at the last second Kelly appeared to stretch into a five foot frame as he leaped into the air and snagged the line drive for the third out of the inning, crushing Bethesda’s hopes to break open a big lead. In the bottom of the fourth Bethesda recorded two quick outs and was breathing easy before Flushing sent seven more batters to the plate to score four runs. There was nothing Bethesda could do as the Flushing hitters kept driving base hits into the outfield. After four innings of play it was now Flushing up by two with an 11 to 9 count. Even leading off the fifth with its three, four and five hitters Bethesda only managed one run when Cal Kildow drove home Bradan Lucas for the only run of the inning. Flushing’s bats were held silent in the fifth. Both teams had ridden the highs and lows that only baseball can deliver as they headed into the sixth and final inning with Flushing holding onto a slim one run lead. It was all you can get in the sixth as the crowd sat in wait. What was in store would not disappoint the true fans that were now dawning their sweatshirts as the winds picked up and the temperature took a nosedive. Bethesda’s ten spot was up and the top of the order waited with bats in hand. The first batter K’d as the veteran infield was ready to take their swings. Luke Menges staved off the pressure and singled. Ty Kildow stepped to the plate as the Bethesda faithful were hoping to load the bases for the big hitters. Ty, never one to take a pitch, drove the first pitch deep down the left field line farther than he’d ever hit before. The ball was by the left fielder before he could get to the line and the speedy Menges and his Keystone partner scored on the inside the parker to put Bethesda up by one. The slick fielding first baseman, Zack Lucas, singled to keep the inning alive, but after an untimely strike out of Bethesda’s clean-up hitter and a single by Ty Swallie; Cal Kildow grounded out to the pitcher to end the top half of the sixth. It was Flushing’s turn to take their swings as the teams entered the bottom of the sixth inning. Flushing was starting with its number three hitter, Austin Koscoe, who for the fourth time this day sent a ball into the outfield grass. M. Edwards sent the next pitch into left field and after an errant relay by the Bethesda Shortstop, Koscoe scored to knot the game at 12 a piece. The next batter hit to the right side as Bethesda’s second baseman recorded the putout; and, now with one out, Flushing had a runner on third with two chances to get him home. You could cut the tension with a knife, but it did not last for long as the Flushing batter singled home the run to end yet another exciting game in this young season. Bethesda came out on the short end for the first time this season as the Flushing bats prevailed 13-12. Living through this game should make all spectators, coaches and players alike understand what Senator Chauncey Depew meant when he said, “I believe that all men who have ever lived and achieved success in this world had lived in vain if they knew not baseball.” The game teaches much more to the youngsters than anyone can write in a textbook. Win or lose, the kids that pour their heart into the game have gained more than they’ll ever realize at this young age. Bethesda’s crew has to pick up their hearts and be ready on Monday as they travel to Holloway, Ohio, home of the Old Timers Baseball Club, to take on Joe Schaeffer’s club. Flushing’s squad will get no rest as they must travel to Centerville to battle the hard- hitting cast of veterans of Coach Brent Haney.

Bethesda: Luke Menges 3-S; Ty Kildow S, D, HR 4RBI; B. It was the Bethesda Lumber Company once again pulling out a victory while the stingy defense held off the Centerville bats to open the season with a victory. The 2006 Champion Bethesda squad, managed by second year skipper Todd Kildow with his heavy weight tag team assistants, Mike Menges and Monte Robb, were ready to defend their crown. The off season was tough on the team with the loss of the power hitting bash brothers, Lucas Robb and Isaac Goodson, together with the retirement of Austin “Charlie Hustle” Hoops, John Phillips and Josh Gregg, three mainstays in the outfield that provided timely hitting during the pennant chase. The 2007 season holds promise however, with the return of utility coach Vance Lucas and new third base coach Neil “Van” Morrison. Morrison was thrown in with the deal to acquire that “Brown-Eyed Girl” with 4.3 speed to play in the outfield - Alyssa Morrison. The acquisition was a much-needed addition to the outfield with the loss of last year’s veterans. The game started just like a re-run of Mel Allen’s This Week In Baseball. Lightning fast Luke Menges lead off the game with a single. Ty Kildow drove a double into the leftfield grass. Zack “Pops” Lucas singled, and then Bradan Lucas and Meg Bateman drove ground balls to the right side of the infield to plate the runs. After a strike out to end the inning it was Bethesda with three runs and Centerville ready to break out the bats. Centerville, coached by rookie mentor, Brent Haney, lost the slick fielding/hard hitting shortstop, Ali Delaney, to the next level; but, experience remains abundant on the squad. The Centerville Club is loaded with talent returning an all-veteran infield after acquiring K. Hannahs from the Triple-A Durham Bulls to play shortstop. Not only can the four gloves play defense; each one, Nick Bilyeu, Devin Crum, K. Hannahs and Colby Haney, is capable of driving the long ball. Bilyeu led off the bottom half of the inning with a triple to left-center field. After a ground out to the veteran Zack Lucas, who moved from third base to first base this season to prolong his career, Hannahs drove one to left center and Devin Crum tripled them home. After one inning the game was tied at three a piece. Bethesda, with nine rookies on the team, could only manage one hit in the second and it was Centerville’s turn to hit. Centerville’s first two batters reached safely and it looked like they were going to keep hitting when Nick Bilyeu came to the plate. The hard-hitting lefty ripped a liner to second base only to be snagged by the slick fielding Luke Menges who narrowly missed an unassisted triple play. Menges got two on the play and the next batter hit a shot back to the pitcher, Bradan Lucas, who threw to Zack “Pops” Lucas at first to end the inning and keep the game tied at three. Luke Menges lead off the third inning getting on base as usual and the hitting fell in place. Veterans Zack Lucas, Bradan Lucas and “The Girl Next Door,” Megan Bateman, all singled and the Bethesda squad had doubled its run total. During the off-season all the talk was about whether Bethesda could contend with the loss of all those big bats, but the questions were answered as early as the third inning of their first game of the new season. Rookie third baseman Cal “Ripken” Kildow, who was brought up to the Big Show for one game during the pennant chase last season, singled to drive in Bateman; and Emilee Robb, another speedy outfielder brought up to replace those who moved on, plated Cal with a single to end the inning with five runs scored and the lead at 8-3 going into the bottom of the third. The Bethesda bats went cold however; and could only score one more run through six. Heading into the bottom of the sixth it was Bethesda 9 and Centerville 6. Centerville would not give up. The veteran squad scored three in the bottom of the sixth to send the game into extra innings. It was the first game of the season and already these youngsters were giving the fans the price of admission. It looked good for the Bethesda squad with the two, three and four hitters ready to hit. Ty Kildow led off the inning, but got under one too much as Colby Haney sat under it and recorded the put-out of Ty for the third time in the game. The Veteran Zack Lucas came through with a single. Bradan Lucas doubled and Megan Bateman, the heroine of last years cross-town rivalry game with the south-side Bethesda Bombers, singled the Lucas boys (not related) home. Bateman reached third while the ball was being tossed around and the Rookie, Cal Kildow, got his second hit and second RBI of the game to add an insurance run. Bethesda held a three run lead heading into the bottom of the seventh as Centerville had its three, four and five hitters ready to unload. Bethesda had retired the first batter when Centerville’s K. Hannahs drove a double into the outfield. Devin Crum doubled to score Hannahs and it was 12 – 10 with one out and one man on. Colby Haney singled, but the Bethesda infield held Crum at third. The tension was in the air, and the pressure was too much however; as the next two batters struck out to end the game. Bethesda held on for a 12-10 extra inning win to begin the 2007 campaign. Next up for Bethesda is John Merritts’ Flushing squad at Bethesda’s storied Sewage Plant Park on Monday April 30. Centerville will have to rebound quickly as it entertains the South Side Bombers from Bethesda who handled Ben Porter’s Morristown club 18-2 on Saturday evening.

Game 4

GAME FOUR It was another beautiful evening at Sewage Plant Park when the Belmont Blue Eagles invaded to renew what was once a basketball rivalry with the old Bethesda Panthers. Stories of great ballgames between the neighboring high schools were rekindled as the great grandchildren of the past Eagles and Panthers put on a spectacular show before a sell-out crowd. It was the Belmont Pinto Team, managed by Rookie mentor Joe Thompson who was hired after the retirement of Eric “The Big Pole” Fijalkowski,” that struck first as they led off the first with hot bats. The manager’s son, who plays second base, doubled as Bell, Pollock, Lucas and Heskett all hit to score four runs in the first. The Bethesda squad was ready for action, however, as the infield was ready to hit. The Keystone Kids, Luke Menges and Ty Kildow, led off the game like clockwork with singles. Rookie Third Baseman, Cal “Ripken” Kildow singled also to load the bases. After a rare strike out of Bethesda’s number four hitter, Zack “Pops” Lucas and Rookie outfielder, Emilee Robb, each singled to plate the first three hitters. After one, it was Belmont with the upper hand, Four to Three. The Bethesda shortstop sat down Belmont’s number 10 hitter before the top of Belmont’s order plated three more runs. With runners on first and third the Keystone Kids did their Jack Wilson – Freddy Sanchez impression as Ty Kildow had to go to the dirt to pick up the ground ball in front of second base and flip it to Menges who made the grab for the put-out at second. Bethesda’s bats went cold in the second. With two outs The Keystone Kids each singled, but Cal Kildow’s ground ball to Thompson at second was fielded cleanly for the third out and the second inning ended with Belmont up 7-3. Belmont brought the bats to this renewed rivalry as they scored five runs in the third aided by a couple untimely miscues by the Bethesda defense. Bethesda came right back in the third as the number four hitter, Bradan Lucas, doubled to lead off the inning. After two put-outs, it was two out lightning for Bethesda’s rookies. Emilee Robb reached on an error, Ty Swallie singled, and the speed of Lauren Menges forced an anxious play at first as she reached safely to load the bases. Skylar Lucas, who just came off the disabled listed, drove a pitch to the outfield grass to plate a run. The Keystone Kids, Bethesda’s one-two punch, each drove in a run as Bethesda finished the inning with 5 runs to pull within four. It was Belmont 12, Bethesda 8 after three innings. Belmont scored one in the fourth and was blanked in the fifth. Bethesda managed two runs in the fourth and had another big inning in the fifth. Skylar Lucas garnered her second hit of the contest to lead off the inning. Ty and Luke each singled to load the bases and Cal Kildow and Bradan Lucas each singled to drive home the runs. Sewage Plant Park was rockin’ as Belmont headed to the plate in the sixth inning with the score tied at 13. Belmont managed one run in the top of the sixth to head into the last half inning with the lead. Bethesda had the bottom of the order leading off as the eight, nine and ten hitters were poised to make their mark in Sewage Plant Park’s storied annals. Ty Swallie, who was also back in uniform after time on the D.L., led off the inning with a single. Lauren Menges, the speedy rookie with eyes that will melt any grandpa’s heart, gathered her first single of the evening to prove timing is everything. There were rookies on first and second, when Skylar “Clutch” Lucas came to the plate. Skylar not only battled the flu while on the D.L., she was battling a slump in the first two games that would make Adam LaRoche look like he was hitting .350. The evening air of Sewage Plant Park was silent with anxiety as you could have heard a pin drop as the veteran utility gal took her spot at the plate. The Veteran did not disappoint as she drove the first pitch into the left-center gap for a walk off double to end a great game between the two rivals. Bethesda will take its 4-0 record to Flushing on Saturday for a night game at the famed Schuler Park.

Game 2

Even a twenty minute rain delay could not cool the red hot bats of the North Side Lumber & Lightning Company on this cloudy Monday evening at Sewage Plant Park. Although the balls do not fly out of the park as in years past, there is no lack of hitting on this years club, laced with six veterans and nine rookies. The Bethesda Ball Club ended the game with 29 hits for 21 runs to take their second game in this young season 21-2 over Flushing. After all was told, Coach John “McGraw” Merritt’s expansion club could only muster two runs in the opening frame after two runners reached base and a seeing-eye double reach the centerfield fence to plate two runs. But it was all business for Bethesda as its veteran infield put on a hitting clinic. Luke Menges led off with a single, Ty Kildow doubled to left, and Zack and Bradan Lucas drove them home. The slick fielding infield foursome combined for 16 hits and 15 runs in the game. The “Rookies,” as they are being called, were not to be outdone as “The Nine” Rookies combined for 10 hits and four runs to add punch to the lineup. It is hard for opposing teams to find an out in this lineup loaded with hitters.
